Hey,

I made some clips of my Jaded Faith Recto and Stein to show the tones that are possible with them. I have the Recto vids finalized. I will update this post with the Stein vids later. Let me know what you think.

I know the quality isn't the best but its all i have to work with. The bass response is not that clear in the vids but there is a difference. The first vid starts out with part of Master of Puppets by Metallica and part of Dead Eternity by In Flames. The next three segments show the different switch combinations for different kinds of playing. The final segment is just some random riffage. The second vid is a song idea of mine. I had old school Sepultura in mind when i came up with it. The part at about 1:40 (and the same part later) is going to be redone b/c it sounds terrible. I was just playing some random stuff. Feel free to make any comments/suggestions or ask any questions.

Needs moar mids and slightly less gain :p

Sounds great though! Love how brutal it is with the response set to Loose :D

Alright. I'll work on that. I'm not too fond of the tone with the mids pushed past 10-11 o'clock but i'll make a new recording with your suggested adjustments. Not too bad with a Logitech mic eh? I'll have some extra cash sometime in the next couple months so maybe then i'll get something basic to record with.

More to come with the Stein. I have something ambitious planned with the video part of it b/c these two were kinda boring. The audio part is basically the same as the Recto vids but seeing as how this recording setup is somewhat working for the time being i will probably post more later.

Thanks,
John

That's understandable. I listened to the "song idea" clip with your lessened bass and gain and it was a HUGE improvement. :) But then, that's my ears and they're different than your ears...

Not bad for what you were using to record.
The 1st vid with MOP seemed a bit bright to me. In a mix it would probably be ok, but alone a little bright. I'm wondering if the room is contributing to that since you are micing the cab 3 feet out (I'm assuming so you don't overload the mic).

i should also point out that the mic is not level with the speakers. It sits a couple inches above the amp itself and is angled downward towards the speakers. My mic stand is too tall for the amp. That is why when i used to mic directly i had to jerry rig the stand to one of my guitar stands to get the mic in front of the speaker. I decided to move it back several feet to allow for great volumes w/o overloading the mic. I am pretty sure i had the settings the same for both vids but i could have accidentally rotated a knob at some point. Again i will make another vid with some EQ changes.

Thanks,
John

I have two new recordings on youtube. Sorry Shinozoku...i felt the need to increase the gain and volume  I did however up the mids and i like it. I enjoyed playing these demos...the music just came to me...there are a lot of sloppy parts with mistakes but i was just recording on the spot and didn't want to disrupt the mood and loose the inspiration as well as the idea. I was in the zone  Anyway i hope you guys like it.

@poisonelvis: I have enjoyed playing these demos so much that i am starting to grow more attached to the Recto again  But don't worry. If you still want it once you have the money it is yours. I am content with the Stein and the 1087 should be coming home fairly soon. Plus i am eyeballing that Triple Wreck that Anomaly is selling. I had a thing against distortion pedals but it all went out the window when i heard the variety of tones it offers. I hate GAS  Anyway, it is time someone else falls in love with this module. Alright i am going to stop my midnight ramble and give you guys the vids so you can enjoy the awepicness that is the Jaded Faith Recto    (you like how i invented a new adjective  awesome + epic =awepic). And that is my que to give you guys some heavy metal and go to sleep. Enjoy! :D

 I know right

I want to thank you all for your support and all of your advice/help. It means a lot. There is still more to come with the Stein. I would have already had them up but i have been busy and i only have Windows Movie Maker to work with which sucks (plus my computer amplifies the problem). I will get them up as soon as possible. I think you guys are going to like what i have planned for the vid

And last but not least i want to give Rob his props! Your work is incredible! NO...it is AWEPIC! I have only tried the Stein and Recto and they are both top notch. I definitely plan on getting more. I am looking forward to the Super Clean and i am excited to see more of your custom work. Heck maybe you can make one of my crazy ideas become real. We are lucky to have you and the other modders here in the MTS community to make a great system even better. Thanks!!

Take Care,
John

Those clips sound awesome.
I agree on Robs mods I have five of them and all of them are insane to say the least. You won't be disappointed in the Superclean its versatility and tone is second to none and yes the MTS world is lucky to have such talented crew all over the world modding these modules into works of tonal art.

More clips of the awesome Jaded Faith Recto. I was in the zone again today so i made more clips to show off more of the module. The first two are showing its overdriven clean tone if you bring the guitar volume down. In the second two i altered the eq a bit and decreased the gain for Shin  Couldn't sound more brutal. Hope you guys like it.

Great! Shows off a bit more of the versatility of the module :D And in response to your comment in the In Flames cover vid: Turning the gain down can help point out mistakes in your playing as you can tell ;) I always play with my gain down some to work on technique. Then when recording I give it a few more notches to get that more brutal grit.

Sounds great!
