Today I stumbled accross some old Groove Tube & Sovtek preamp tubes that I had bought back in the 80's....think I may experiment with plugging them into my RM4 chasis.
Looking at the back of the RM4, what are the functions of each of the three preamp tubes? I figure the one on the bottom is for the effects loop, which I probably won't mess with since my loop is very transparent right now.
So which of the two tubes on the top row is the input stage tube? I've always suspected that I get a little (unwanted) overdrive at the RM4's front end, and am curious to see what difference (if any) a different preamp tube at this stage might make.
I guess the other tube on the top row is the phase inverter? (Showing my ignorance now.) Should I expect a noticeable difference from changing this one out, too?
While we're at it, what tube does what in the modules themselves?
Thanks for your thoughts and patience.
