Sounds really good. Not a tone I've ever chased but definitely has that Vai sound going on. He always does high quality clips which help too.
 
...but Vai recorded that tune long before the Legacy was developed.
 
I'm pretty impressed at how close it comes to the tone from the Vai recording.

Which Marshall did he use? I am wondering if he had Carvin maybe take a Marshall and re-design it for the legacy.
 
Very smooth indeed and captures that unmistakable Vai thing. I'm sure For The Love of God has been recorded at numerous occasions live and I think it's closer to those performances than the original studio recording. The original has that stiff JMP mid that is pretty fatiguing to my ears. And I'm sure since then Vai has had several takes on signature pickups and what's not developed and subsequently moved away a bit from his original tone in other aspects as well.
