Which slot for higain modules.

Had a problem using a Vox V847 with an XTC module in my RM50 combo. With the gain and master full up, and the Wah engaged I was getting a sound like a ring modulator when playing the guitar and a continuous feedback from the reverb (effects) that sounded like a "motor!" with the guitar volume off. The XTC module was in the right hand slot which is directly over the fan. Checked all the tubes, all O.K., no micro-phonics. Moved the module to the left hand slot, rig modulator sound stopped, no "motor" feedback. So, put the high gain modules in the slot(s) farthest from the fan. Anyone have similar experiences? seems like interference from something but if moving the hi gain module away from the fan works then just keep them in that slot
