Hi!
I found this great website www.drumsforyou.com
Basically they offer a service where you send them your scratch track and they record high quality drums for it. :)

But they also have some monthly free tracks to have fun with!
And so I did, here are the results:

m0jo - Jamtrack
First riff: 1086 (boost off, gain 6)
Second riff: Sloogie
Solo: XTC

All played on my custom built 60s strat with veeery tiny frets ;)
So that's gonna be my excuse for this track :p

m0jo - Monster
Rythm: Sloogie
Solo: XTC
Vocals: me

This track is played with my Ibanez :)

The bass on both tracks is a Yamaha el-cheapo through the Twinface in Deluxe setting and an SVT 8x10 impulse :D

Hit me!!

Ooops...forgot to listen over the weekend!
Haha you are forgiven :)

Something I forgot to mention:
On Jamtrack all rythm is the neck single coil, solo alternates between neck single and bridge rails humbucker.
Monster is almost all bridge humbucker on the Ibby, small neck hum. part in the solo (the slow break).

Woah nice, i love the quality haha. How did you record this??? Direct recording??? cause i need help with direct recording from my rm100 into a POD UX1. My songs sound so bad and fuzzy.

Are you using cab impulses? Your description makes me think you are recording the dry amp sound with no cab.

Edit: Mojo good job. I like the vibe

Thanks guys!

Yes I recorded with impulses.

NgrungeBB91, check this out:

But instead of using a software preamp you use the Randall preamp :)

I use the GuitarHacks impulses, I uploaded them here for you.
There are also bass impulses in there that I use for bass as I said ;)

If you're using Reaper for recording like me, you can load them into the stock ReaVerb plugin :)
If not I'd recommend KeFIR, because it doesn't have any latency.
You do have to turn down the gain in KeFIR, mix 100% up of course, it will automatically set the length ;)

If you have any questions fire away :D

Hmm okay, ill get Reaper, which would be the better plugin would you say. ReaVerb or KeFIR?, cause i have KeFIR already. Thanks so much ill try this out and see how it comes out.

EDIT: Its still fuzzy, i tried KeFIR and I dont know what im doing wrong.. its just wierd.. This is on the Treadplate BTW too.

Haha! Its like magic! Thanks so much man. :D okay so what did i do wrong? I loaded one of the GuitarHacks impluses into KeFIR and recorded and it still was fuzzy, then you did some magic thing that made it right. So what happened here? lol like give me a step by step on this.

I think you forgot to set the settings like I said ;)

- Load an impulse into KeFIR
- Set Mix to 100% (so that there's no fuzzyness left)
- Set Gain to -20 or something like that

Standard the mix is set to 50% so the original fuzzy sound comes through ;)
Plus the gain is set way too high, causing clippage.

Does this help?

And i did just that, everything you said, except i have the gain all the way down, it says -INFdb. I have the gain on the module set at noon, how is that too much???

@fearnloathing, How did you get my clip to be like that?? What did you do to it?

That's strange man. It seems like the plugin is not applied, do you hear any difference while changing the volume.

On Reaper:
- create a track, Arm it to Record
- click the little speaker to turn on Monitoring for the track
- click FX for the track
- add the ReaVerb plugin and set it as following:
- Add -> File -> impulse .wav file
- Wet: 0db (double click the slider)
- Dry: all the way down
- Width: 1.00
- Pan: 0.00
- Pre-reverb: 0ms
- Max FFT: leave it ;)
- ZL: on (zero latency)

Then you should be good to go!

Mojo, I like Monster. Cool vibe and cool tones.

Ngrunge, for kicks I made a mp3 of your track too with a bassman IR. Sounds good too. What module did you use? The track is superhot in level.

Thanks man :)

Could you send me that IR?
Would be nice for my crunch sounds :)

All I did was run your clip through Voxengo Boogex with a Mesa cab ir loaded then copied the track and sent it through a Marshall cab ir. Then just jockeyed the faders to shape the sound a bit. Some corrective EQ could help with the clarity in the lowend during the chugs where the accent notes get lost. I am by no means an IR guru. 99.9% of everything we record here is miced cab, but IR's have come a long way and have been a real life saver during mixdown if I need a specific sound to fill out a mix. Ill send the DI signal through an MW1 reamp and If I cant get the sound from a cab on hand I have a library of Ir's to try.

How about we start a new thread as to not hijack MoJo's thread.
