Has anybody tried a 12Au7 in their Randall/ Egnater modules .
I am thinking about it but I didn't want to take a chance of damaging anything if it isn't compatible? Thanks

you absolutey can. i have one one in my HW-103 to reduce gain. It may cut down on the bass response though so maybe try a T, V or Y rather than a U

some advise against either the AT or AU (can't remember correctly which one) for a preamp spot
but sooner as PI tube for it's alledged 'unmusical' character

FYI, been playing around with tubes. I have a box of old Telefunken and RCA tubes from radios and such. i had a 12au7 in v1 and a 12at7 in v2. the tone was clean and was what I was looking for. After i started putting it up against my beefier sounding mods I switched to a 12aT7 in V1 and 12ax7 in v2and the tone got much bigger, more bottom and still not a huge amount of gain if I don't want it. much more musical than the u7
