CLEAN module Distorting??

I'm having a problem with my Clean Module distorting... the funny thing is the higher I turn up my gain the less break up I get???? any suggestions??? any body else have this problem??? there are no problems w/ my speakers, pickups, or cable b/c my blackface sparkles.

something sounds fishy, shouldn't get cleaner the more gain. You should start getting some very minor breakup at gain going past 1 territory, not the other way around. first thing would be to put in different tubes and see if that helps

I did buy this used so I do not know if something is messed up or what... someone suggested to me that it may be a bad tube or the tube may be loose.
