On certain low notes the mic eliminator in my 4x12 rattles. It's probably the whole cabinet resonating but the main negative sonic effect is from the mic eliminator. If I have no XLR cables connected to it, it sounds like light metal parts in the XLR jacks rattling. I can even hear this in a close mic in front of the cabinet. If I plug in an XLR cable and listen to the mic eliminator signal, it sounds as if the signal is overloading on those certain low notes.

I've tried putting cotton inside the jacks and it sort of helps, but does anyone have a better idea for how to stabilize the jacks or dampen the vibration?

Many thanks

Pop the jackplate off and run some foam rubber insulation around the edge where it mates to the cabinet?

Be careful tightening screws though, the jackplates seem very fragile.
