I just got my rm100c a couple days ago and I decided to take a look at some of the modules in case I decide to work up the courage to do a simple mod in the future. One thing confused me. The grailtone mods page says that c3 in the XTC comes as .0022u stock. I took a look at the pdf and my module and both show 470p. isn't that equal to .00047u? I did find that c1 is listed as .0022u. is the cap that's usually referred to as c3? why is it labeled c1 then?

also, i noticed that c3 on the clean module is .1u. is this part of the reason it's so big sounding? would this module possibly benefit from a smaller c3 value if the clean sound is too warm for my tastes?

thanks for any help you can give.

Hi there,

C3 as found on other modules is actually designated as C1 in the XTC.

I don't know the reason for that, maybe some of the Randall guys here on the forum could comment on this.
