If you like EL34 but they are getting old (muddy)...try KT77 Smile

Personally I always use a boost out front, no mud Smile

I also hit my signal with a clean boost or a slight bit o' grit in the front...

Thanks for the replies. I have a 1086 and use a sparkle drive with a nova delay in the loop. Its sounds killer. I get a lot of complements. its starting to fade a bit. Tubes have a lot of hours on them. I tend to run the master at about 4 and the 1086 level at 2/3 is that ok?

I've always liked 6550's over el34, or 6l6 for slightly tighter sound. Although you might want to take a look at your preamp tubes. IMHO they have a much more dramatic effect on tone.
