i dont get the hype over the stock 1086...the Ultra XL sounds far better to my ears. But they are similar....The Ultra Xl just sounds like a boosted 1086.

Doug has monster tone....to me it sounds like John Sykes tone on steroids. Those steroids are a ton of rack effects IMO. Amp wise, 70's vintage Marshalls and some Engl's will do it all with mods. he talks vaguely about it here: http://www.eternalmelody.net/da/e/interview/interview4-e.html

Is there a module that sounds somewhat like a Carvin Legacy? Thats my favorite amp for leads...unfortunately, not much else.

I'm thinking oif upgrading from my old RG100 ES Randall halfstack, and looking at the usual suspects...Mesa's, 6505+'s and of course the Lynch Box...But I'm finding all of the modules descriptions to be confusing...I dont even know what a Plexi is, lol....Is there anywhere I can hear some sound...
