Why on earth would someone pay that much for a smoked effect unit that may never work?

I had a Gmajor and it died twice on me. The last time I had it fixed then sold it. I think these units have spotty reliabilty. My old Digitech TSR-24 is 3 times older and hasnt missed a beat
