I'd give one of my kidneys for a Ty module. King's X is my favorite band. A lot of Ty's sound is from the heavy chorus. I use a XTC right now for my Ty sound and sometimes a 1086. I should post clips one of these days...

I just listened to 3DD - Kryptonite and I'd say the 1086 is closer in that song. The 1086 is a thinner brighter sound than the Grail. You could go with either one though. I have a Rectified modded to Grail specs and a 1086. I like them both.

Try the Grail or a Recto/Rectified/Treadplate modded to be like a Grail. It's not a Mesa but it is Mesa-like.

What module did you start with?

I've been working on this tone too. Tone chasing is a losing battle... Try EMG 81 pickups and a distortion pedal paired with a Framus or Mesa type module. The pedal is mainly for EQ to thin out the bass to make the rhythm clearer. The Tube Screamer patch on my Line6 X3 isn't good enough to...

I run with Density and Presence at 0 and use an EQ pedal in the effects loop.

The Grail is the easy answer for a Mesa sound, but I wouldn't rule out a 1086 either. I have the regular Ultra and no, to me it's not Mesa. I haven't heard an Ultra Lead though.

I would have recommended a Plexi but I guess you already tried that. Super V, perhaps?

Ty's my favorite player. You're the first person I know that has one of his signature guitars. I can't wait for his signature MTS modules to come out.
