any amp that has an FX loop will serve adequately as a power amp...you can just go guitar > RM4 > Amp FX return > cab... if you have one lying around, you're in business.

Check out Avatar man...they have three different styles of 2x12 cabs...and for speakers, you should definitely look at Avatar's Hella Tone 60s, which are literally Celestion V30s which Avatar breaks in for approximately 15 hours; all they do after that is slap on a "Hella Tone" sticker on them...

Well I think most people (me included) are in agreement that EHs are not up to standard, at least for the high gain stuff. I've only tried JJ ECC83s, and for now that's doing the trick. I'm sure there could be better tubes, but I haven't had any reason to try any others. I believe Salvation...

Its a really versatile module, and does alot of different genres "well", but not everything "great"...for me, it does its best work when the mids are cranked 1-3 Oclock...now that's fine for standard heavy rock, but clearly not going to cut it with scooped tones, particularly modern stuff. I'm...

FWIW, check out what preamp tubes you have in it also...my 1086 came with electro harmonix's, and while I love the 1086, it does have a tendency to seem somewhat lifeless at times. On a tip from Bobby :twisted: (bhuard75), I replaced V1 and V2 with JJ EC83's and my goodness...the difference...

That being said, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Hellatone 60s...It's the same speaker except the Hellatone is broken in somewhat, so it sounds good right out of the gate and it's less expensive ($99). Avatar gets them from Celestion, sticks their decal on the back, breaks them in and then...
