Which module for this clean sound? Pink Floyd/Marillion/prog

I pull of Gilmour and the JC-120 sound both from the Egnater Twin/Vox module. It gives the chime of the JC with a bit of chorus and also has the warmth of Gilmour's sound when compressed.

    KH mods

From what I read, Kirk was asking for the old Van Halen sound - I can't imagine that not being similar to the Brown module.

Real bad tones out of the new KH modules

Well, they used Marshalls on Kill 'Em All but Lightning's dirty tones were mostly pedal based, so I wouldn't really count that as a Marshall sound. Puppets was the first using the Mark IIc. However, one very important thing to note here is that although James was using Mesa for the signature...

    KH 1 and KH 2 ????

Kirk's been using Marshall's for at least some of the lead sounds on just about every album, ever. Remember, this isn't the JH1 and JH2...

    Kirk Confirmed

Modeling is not solid state, it's a completely different approach than that. I'm more a fan of the Egnater stuff than the Randall stuff.

    Kirk Confirmed

George was one of the first ESP guitar players and Kirk followed within what, a year? A coincidence that spans 20 years is more than two things going together perfectly...and I'd hardly say ESP and Randall go together any more perfect than ESP and any other amp.

The Who / Pete Townshend module? Which one is closest?

Have you tried the Top Boost? Pete Townshend also used the Vox AC30.

    Kirk Confirmed

:D Yeah, aside from that though. It's just weird to me like they must share the same guitar tech or something.

    Kirk Confirmed

Hmm, this is the second time that I've seen Kirk directly follow George Lynch's lead onto a "new" product (the first being ESP guitars) - I wonder if there's some correllation?

Switched from Mesa 2:90 to Marshall 9100 for power

I like the KT-77's, right in the middle.

Randall Recto, Treadplate, Rectified and now...

If this is true, I wonder if it's related to Line 6 copyrighting the term?

Which module for 80s Metallica - Master of Puppets?

James used Marshalls on KEA and RTL (with a distortion pedal) but from Puppets on used the Mark IIc (with the Marshall as a power-amp), then Triaxis, then Rectifiers. That's not to say that I don't think you could get close with the SL+, I was using it for my scooped rhythm thrash style sound...

Awesome....I need this module now. How can I go about getting one without already owning an MHG?

Which module for 80s Metallica - Master of Puppets?

The Recto and 1086 modules will get you post-black album and somewhat black album tones but for Puppets and Justice you need tighter bottom end...not necessarily Marshall style (KEA and RTL).

    Lots of gear!

Seriously, this is a pretty small community as far as forums go and Pete is a well respected member of it. Many of us were burned here because we got a bit too trustworthy of the posters in the classifieds.
